Words from the Pastor
I want to welcome you to the February Ranch Family Fun Day (RFFD). I can’t believe it’s our 14th season already! This is the first RFFD this year, so I hope this one is your best! It’s so great to see you all here! And I hope that you have brought a friend with you. Everybody needs to know Jesus and what’s a better way to find Him than in a rodeo arena?
And here we are into the 2nd month of 2020! In all seriousness I never thought that I would live this long. I probably should have been dead a long time ago, but God has kept me around for a reason, and that is so I can share His glorious Gospel with as many folks as possible. Have you ever wondered why you are still alive? Or let me put it this way, have you ever wondered why you are here on this earth? Maybe you don’t have a clue why you are here, but being alive “beats the alternative” you figure. And if you aren’t a Christian then I couldn’t agree with you more! Because if Jesus isn’t your personal Savior then the alternative is hell. Hell is separation from God and it is an eternal punishment the Bible tells us. But if you do know Jesus as your personal Savior then eternity is spent with your Heavenly Father and rejoicing…for eternity! I mean forever! And as a bonus, Jesus says if you follow Him, He is able to give you peace and joy in all of your trials and troubles here on earth. In John 14:27 Jesus tells us, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” “I do not give to you as the world gives,” Jesus says. Meaning that if we take away all of the worlds goods and everything that we enjoy in this world then we can still rejoice in the Lord and have peace in all of our circumstances because we know Jesus. It sounds like a great deal to me. It’s a free gift and all we need to do is reach out to Him and take it.
But so often I get caught up in what’s going on around me that I forget that Jesus wants to give me that peace. Do you remember the story in Matthew about Peter walking on the water? You can read the whole story in Matthew 14:22-33 but here is the part that I want to talk about: 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” You see, when Peter looked around and saw the waves and wind, he lost all faith and fear overcame him. It’s the same way with me when there’s a storm in my life and I don’t trust Jesus to carry me through it. I start figuring out ways to fix it instead of trusting Him to take my hand and carry me through it. So next time the storm clouds of life are beating all around you, keep your eyes on Jesus. He will carry you through!
God Bless You! Let us know if we can do anything for you. Naomi and I sure love all y’all! -Pastor Steve
